Yann Ménière is a former student of the Ecole Normale Supérieure de Cachan (2001). He holds a Ph.D. in economics (2005) from Mines ParisTech.

His current research fields are collective innovation in the ICT industries and the international diffusion of carbon-friendly technology. His activity involves both academic research and policy relevant applied research for public institutions or companies.
